James Purdy

Experience: 9th Season

Jim Purdy completed his eighth season in 2018 leading the DCC Falcons. The program is 41-63-4 in his first eight seasons at Dutchess including postseason berths for the last seven years (2012-2018) including a #4 seed in 2013 and a final four appearance in 2016. Coach Purdy has coached sixteen All Region 15 selections including three All Region First Team selections in 2011, 2015 and 2016 as well as 35 All Mid Hudson Conference selections in his first eight years at the helm.  

Coach Purdy has over twenty years of playing experience with the Wappinger Braves who played in the EDSL and holds National Coaching Licenses and Diplomas from both USSF and the NSCAA.

Coach Purdy has made academics a top priority working closely with the student athletes to meet and exceed NCAA requirements. That effort resulted in nine team members receiving academic recognition following the 2015 season. Most recently in 2018 five Falcons were named All Region Academic and six were named All Conference Academic award honorees.

Prior to coming to DCC Coach Purdy had been extensively involved in coaching youth through U23 teams in local youth and adult leagues for nearly thirty years. He founded the East Hudson Academy League Select Program and has coached in the program since its inception. He was named to the East Hudson Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Eastern New York Hall of Fame in 2018.

He has also served on the East Hudson Youth Soccer League Board of Directors for eighteen years including the last eight as League President and is a USSF Grade 7 Certified referee with over 18 years experience.

Purdy is a retired Deputy Superintendent with the NYS Department of Corrections after 34 years of service. He reside in Stormville, N.Y. with his wife and is the dad to four adult children and one beautiful granddaughter.
