Box Score 2 WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Dutchess and Orange County Community College split their doubleheader at Dutchess Stadium on Saturday, with OCC winning game one 9-6 and DCC taking game two 8-1.

      Â

     Â
In game one, both teams played played a tight game that was back-and-forth, but Orange CC pulled out the 9-6 victory. Orange was able to more than double the Falcons in the hit column and that ultimately became the difference in this one. They were able to get timely hits when they had men on base and capitalized on Dutchess mistakes or walks.
DCC came out swinging with a four run bottom of the first and looked poised for a big game offensively. While the six runs scored by Dutchess are nothing to scoff at, the bats certainly could not regain that spark they had early on in this one as the Orange pitching were able to silence the Falcon lineup for most of the game.
Nobody for the Falcons compiled even a multi-hit game.
Jonathan Lezette was able to get on base three times with a base hit and two walks. Michael Carmody finished 3-for-3 with four RBI leading the way for OCC.
In game two, the Falcons jumped out to an early lead and never let go, winning 8-1.

 Â
Dutchess' four run third inning bolstered their eight run performance in game two. The big inning was thanks to a double by
Andrew Kemmerer, a triple by Lezette, a single by
Vinny DellaVecchia, and a double by
John Wheeler. DCC now led 5-0 and
Joshua Rosario would make sure that would be enough.
Rosario earned the win for the Falcons, who needed a strong outing from their starting pitcher after using five pitchers in game one. He went all seven innings, surrendering just one run, seven hits, while striking out five.
Dutchess doubled their hit total from game one with 12 in this one. Wheeler, Kemmerer, DellaVEcchia, and Lezette all led the charge with each of them collecting multiple hits, with Kemmerer, Lezette, and DellaVecchia each drove in a pair of runs.
Orange were not able to muster up much offense in game two against Rosario, with only Steven Iannolo and Brad Nowak collecting multiple hits for the Colts.
