Box Score HIGHLAND, NY -Â A massive 9 RBI from sophomore
John Wheeler helped lead Dutchess past Ulster Community College to a victory, 17-2 on Thursday.Â
An early 12-1 lead through two innings helped propel DCC to the 5 inning mercy rule victory. The Falcons' bats came alive in this one with eight of the nine starters collecting hits and either and RBI or run scored.
Dutchess collected 20 hits Thursday afternoon with Wheeler,
Stephen Richards,
Erik Merrill,
Isiah Nugent,
Jonathan Lezette, and
Andrew Kemmerer each collecting mutli-hit games.Wheeler finished the game 4-for-4 with three runs scored to go along with the 9 RBI with a home run accounting for two of the runs batted in. Fellow sophomore Richards also finished 4-for-4 and connected on a solo home run in the top of the 5th.
Brandon Greenspan started and earned the win for the Falcons. He threw 2 2/3 innings, surrendering two runs, four hits, striking out two, and walking one.
Ryan Houskeeper came on to finish the game firing the last 2 1/3 innings scoreless.
Kyle Koledjeski was one of the few bright spots for Ulster going 2-for-3 and scoring both runs for the Senators. Brandon Bonsteel had the lone RBI in the contest for Ulster.
The Falcons head into their road rematch with Ulster on Friday currently standing with a record of 14-6 and 9-4 within Region 15 after this win on Thursday.
