LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY - The Dutchess baseball team capped off their solid regular season by finishing third in the Region 15 Division II Baseball Tournament at Sullivan County Community College this past weekend.
The Falcons entered the tournament as the #3 seed and squared off against the #2 seeded Sullivan in the first round. DCC found themselves up big early on, but ultimately fell to the Generals in a shootout, 15-14.
Now in the loser's bracket, Dutchess needed to battle their way back to make it to the finals. A game against #4 seeded Rockland was next on the slate. Dutchess dominated en route to  a 10-3 victory putting them one win away from the finals against the reigning three-time champion Westchester.
Sullivan proved to be too much for Dutchess in the semifinals, as they handed them a 13-5 loss, ending the Falcons' season. The Generals ultimately went on to the finals but lost to eventual champion, for the fourth consecutive year, Westchester Community College.
Dutchess finished the regular season 18-12 overall and 12-8 within Region 15. With only six sophomores leaving after this year, coach Al Hammell's Falcons will no doubt be in contention once again next year for a regional title.
