Falcons Baseball takes 3 out of 4 Games in Their Matchup with Orange

Game 1: The Falcons were able to take down Orange Community College by the score of 15-13 to earn their first win of the season. 

Matthew Murphy started the game on the mound and was able to get through 5 innings giving up only 1 run and 2 hits. 

The Falcons were able to take the lead in the top of the third inning and build on form there. They scored 8 runs in the third inning, 4 runs in the fifth inning, and 3 more in the seventh inning. 

Providing the runs for DCC was Tyler VanDeBogart, Matthew Wheeler, and Kevin Martino who all had 3 hits apiece, VanDeBogart hit his first home run of the year while driving in 5 runs.  

Game 2: Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity Claims Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Orange 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity took the lead late in the game in a 14-5 victory over Orange on Friday. The game was tied at five with Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity batting in the top of the sixth when Gary Magner tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning when Kevin Martino singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity took the lead for good with five runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Matt Wheeler doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Vincent Schara was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. 

Wheeler was the winning pitcher for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity. The pitcher lasted eight innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out six. Schara threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Tyler Vandebogart went yard in the third inning. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity tallied 15 hits on the day. Martino, Vandebogart, Shane Heinemann, Parker Nevins, and Wheeler each had multiple hits for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity. Martino went 3-for-6 at the plate to lead Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity in hits. Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Vandebogart made the most plays with eight. The Falcons will travel back to Orange Community College on Friday 4/21 for game 2 of their series. 

Game 3: Saturday's game against Orange was a heartbreaker for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 10-9 defeat. Tyler Vandebogart drove in four runners in the loss. Vandebogart drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Vandebogart singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity notched six runs in the second inning. Kevin MartinoEvan AcevedoShane Heinemann, and Vandebogart each had RBIs in the frame. 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity racked up 11 hits. Vandebogart, Heinemann, and Parker Nevins each collected multiple hits for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity. Heinemann and Vandebogart each managed three hits to lead Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity. Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Vandebogart led the way with two. Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field.  

Game 4:  Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down by the end, Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity still held off Orange for a 6-5 victory on Saturday 

Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Paul Andrews doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Matt Wheeler's sac fly scored one run for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity, and Dominic Marino singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Gary Magner took the win for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity. The righthander allowed five hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Tyler Vandebogart threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Vandebogart recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Dutchess CC Falcons Varsity. 

The Falcons will take on Lackawanna College in a non region matchup Tuesday April 25th at Dutchess Stadium.
