Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Despite Virginia Wheatley putting 22 points on the board, Dutchess Community College lost to Hostos CC, 70-60. Hostos grabbed the lead against DCC on a two-pointer from Destini Green in the second period and never looked back.

Despite a strong finish, with 20 points in the final quarter, the Falcons failed to secure the win. Wheatley led Dutchess' offense, going 10-for-13 (77%) from the field. Elizabeth Rolleri sank two three-pointers and scored six points total. Sophomore Kiana Nichols tapped out at double digits, scoring 20 points for DCC shooting 7-for-8. Also helping the effort for Dutchess were Rose Spuhler (8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Catherine McCutcheon (2 points), and Olivia Malles (2 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal).

Dutchess finished the game with 24 rebounds (7 offensive / 17 defensive) and two steals as well as an excellent 64% from the field, but their 67% from the free throw line left little to be desired.

The women travel to Kingsborough CC on Tuesday to take on The Wave.
