DCC Women's Basketball Season Recap

Falcons Women's Basketball came into the season looking to improve on the 2024-25 season in coach Ty Moultrie's second year at DCC. Dutchess was able to win 2 more conference games than the previous season and finished with a higher winning percentage overall.
    
    DCC was lead by All Region XV First Team member, Sophomore Eva Bertiz. Bertiz finishes her career as a Falcon with the 5th highest scoring average (18.2), the highest rebounding average (11.7) and the most averaged shots blocked (2.2) since the 2000-01 season. The sophomore this season showed her scoring prowess in 2 big games against BMCC and Suffolk, shooting 12-13 from the field and finishing with 35 points. While hosting BMCC, Bertiz put up the second highest scoring game since the 2000-01 season, she scored 38 points in the win while also grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists. Bertiz also holds the record for most rebounds in a game with 20, achieving the feat 3 times this season.

    The Falcons scoring was supplemented by 2 freshman, All Region XV Honorable Mention Kamira Sutton and Amelia Turner. Sutton averaged 12.3 points a game on the season, she scored a season high 23 points in a game against Nationally Ranked Fulton Montgomery.. While scoring efficiently, the Freshman Sutton also was the team leader in assists. Amelia Turner was the 3rd Falcon to average double digit points on the season, finishing the year scoring 10.8 points a game. Turner scored a season high 28 points on the road in a win over BMCC. Turner also turned in big performances on the boards, averaging 6.8 boards a game and coming down with a high of 16 at home against BMCC.

    Key final season players for the team were Katrina Carmel who was a 2 season player and put up 3 double digit rebounding games this season. Angelina Nesheiwat was named to the Region XV All Sportsmanship team and added 3 double digit rebounding performances of her own. Joey Roach averaged 6 points and rebounds this season and had 5 of 8 games with 7+ rebounds, 12 points in win over BMCC. Dani Heady joined the team late in the season but provided effort and focus through her time playing.
