Kiana Nichols scored 27 points, helping Dutchess Community College notch a 62-36 victory over Queensborough CC on Thursday. The Falcons head into winter break winning back to back games and now stand at 6-7 overall on the season.
On the heels of a 20-6 run, DCC led 27-20 at the half. With 21 points in the third quarter, Dutchess cemented their lead.
Nichols paved the way for the Falcons, making 57% (8-for-14) of shots attempted while also sinking 85% (11-for-13) of free throws attempted.
Elizabeth Rolleri put three three-pointers on the board and scored 13 points total. Two other players also racked up double digit scores for Dutchess, the previously stated Nichols, and
Virginia Wheatley put up 14 points with 5 boards. Also helping the effort for DCC were
Olivia Malles (4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal) and
Rose Spuhler (2 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals).
The Dutchess women will be off the next few weeks for the holidays, but return to action on Janurary 8th for a home game against Sullivan CC.
