10/20/2017 9:12:00 AM

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The second seed Dutchess Falcons Women's Soccer team ended their season last night in the Region XV semi-final with a 2-1 loss to the third seed FIT Tigers.

The Falcons got out to an early lead when Jenna DiMarzo found the lower left corner in the 37thminute after a few quick passes from Lauren Regan and Valeria Barragan switched the point of attack. The FIT Tigers' Mara Herbert would start the second half with an early goal at the 46thminute and Izabela Cunha would finish the game winner at the 70th. Kelsie McDowell played a strong match and had 13 saves.

"While we may not have gotten the result we would have liked in the playoff game, the women exceeded all expectations this season. I am proud of them and very happy to have been part of this team," Coach Erika Sclafani

Coach Adam Ritter added "It's never easy ending a season abruptly, but as a team we couldn't be more proud of how passionately we played together for 90 minutes tonight and throughout our season. We had a great season! We exceeded everyone's expectations! All members of the team shared and actively contributed to a vision that they were proud of. We wish all our student-athletes the best as they continue their academic journeys and hope that they will reflect fondly upon their memories at Dutchess Community College."
