Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Dutchess Community College celebrated their sophomore day in style winning 57-41 against Nassau on Friday with the help of sophomore Kiana Nichols (#25 above), who scored 23 points. The Falcons got an early advantage after an 18-point second quarter, increasing their lead to 27-11 by halftime.
Nichols finished her final regular season game leading DCC's offense, going 10-for-22 (45%) from the field while also sinking 75% (3-for-4) of free throws attempted. Fellow sophomore
Makenzie Lewis (#15 above) added 2 points and 5 rebounds to the winning cause as well.
Virginia Wheatley made it into double digits, scoring 12 points for Dutchess (6-for-11) to go along with 7 rebounds. Also contributing for DCC were
Olivia Malles (9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals),
Catherine McCutcheon (8 points, 3 rebounds), andÂ
Elizabeth Rolleri (3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal).
The women now head into the first round of the Region 15 playoffs on Tuesday, February 28th against Suffolk CC in Seldon, NY.
