Box Score BROOKLYN, NY – The Dutchess women's soccer team won its second match 1-0 in overtime against the FIT Tigers on Sunday. The Falcons record is 2-0-0.
Freshmen Karen Rothdeutsch played strong for all 90 plus minutes and was able to net the only goal of the match in the first minute of overtime from a pass from Lauren Regan. Goalkeeper Kelsie McDowell and Kristy Garcia organized their teammates defensively to effectively limit the Tigers total shots on goal. Kelsie McDowell had 9 saves on the day. Lauryn Aloia kept pressure on the FIT Tigers freshman standout Mara Herbert and prevented her from getting any quality looks at the Falcon's defending net.
"Today's win is evidence of our improvement as a team. Both defense and offense have shown just how far we've come. We have more wins in our future and I'm so glad we could come together in overtime and pull through," Lauren Regan said.
Lauryn Aloia added, "We traveled a long way to play our hearts out again against FIT and showed we won't back down. We have been working very hard, putting all our efforts into practices to show what we have to offer on the field and prove that we've all grown to be one big strong family."
Through two games, the Falcons have been spreading the wealth as three different players have scored each of the three Falcon goals on the season so far.
Come out to support your Falcons! Dutchess will travel to Bronx, NY to take on Monroe College on Wednesday, September 13th. The game will be played at 4 p.m. at Monroe College.
