POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Dutchess Women's soccer team opened their season with a thrilling 2-1 result against the FIT Tigers. This was the first DCC Women's Soccer match and win on the season. The Falcons record this season is 1-0-0.

The Falcons got off to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a 29th minute goal by freshman Lauryn Aloia and a penalty kick in the 40th minute that was finished by freshman Lauren Regan. The Tigers continued to pressure the Falcons goal throughout the match and earned a penalty kick of their own in the 84th minute that was finished by freshman Isabel Rodela making the score 2-1.  Dutchess' freshman goalkeeper Kelsie McDowell saved 16 shots on the afternoon.  Dutchess defenders Sarah Chang, Kristy Garcia, Daisy Godoy, Taylor Peters, and Elizabeth Rolleri prevented the FIT Tigers freshman standout Mara Herbert from scoring during the run of play.

"There are always those first game jitters and our coaches helped us push through them. But, as soon as we stepped onto the field, we became strong, intense, and focused. I could not be more proud of my team today", Dutchess freshman goalkeeper Kelsie McDowell said after the game.

"From where we were three weeks ago, I didn't know if we would be able to come together as one team in time for our first game" said Elizabeth Rolleri, Falcons' freshman defender. "Today we came out and exceeded everybody's expectations. We came out hard, and everybody played a huge role in today's victory. I can only see our team improving and continuing to grow as one and work together as the season progresses."

Up next, Dutchess will travel to Brooklyn, NY to take on FIT Sunday, September 10th. FIT currently has a record of 0-1-0. The game will be played at 1 p.m. at Kingsborough Community College.
