Falcons' Men's Basketball Ends First Half Ranked #12 in The Country

    The Dutchess Men's Basketball team end the first half of their season 10-3 with an in Region XV record of 8-2. The Falcons have been nationally ranked for the entirety of the season, currently they are the #12 team in the country. Dutchess is 2nd in the country for blocks per game and 4th in steals per game, the defense effort leads to the Falcons allowing the 2nd fewest points per game in the country. On the offensive end, DCC ranks in the top 20 nationally in points per game and shooting percentage.

    Through the first 13 games, Sophomore Supreme Niles has piloted the offensive attack. Niles leads the team in points per game and assists per game, averaging 16.6 points and 3.4 assists. The Sophomore has surpassed 20+ points in 4 games, his best performance coming against Monroe Bronx where he finished with 26 points.

    The leader on the defensive end, Sophomore Josiah Salmon, is 4th in the country in blocks and top 25 in steals. Salmon had some monster performances in the first half including 4 double doubles, the highest scoring game by a Falcon this season and 7 games with 4+ blocks. Salmon's best game came when he scored 29 points against D2 Rockland CC, he shot 66.7% from the field, grabbed 13 rebounds and 5 steals. 

    Sophomore Jadyn Wilson joins Salmon in the country's top 15 in blocks per game. Wilson is 2nd on the team in rebounds per game and has added 8 games of 3+ blocks. Sophomore Elijah Cherry is 3rd on the team in scoring, averaging 8.9 points a game. Sophomore Daniel Ogunleye has been a defensive menace, he has 7 games with 3+ steals. Sophomore Nouhoun Diarra is 3rd on the team in rebounding and 3rd on the team in blocks, he scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a win over BMCC.

    Freshman guard duo Jordin Walker and Kameron Quinn have both shined at points in their first season of college basketball. Walker is 4th on the team in scoring, his best performance came against Laguardia CC where he scored 14 points dished out 6 assists and grabbed 4 rebounds. Quinn has been filling the stat sheet all season, he has 6 games with 4+ rebounds and 6 games with 4+ assists. Quinn also finished the semester with his best 2 scoring performances of the year, 14 points against both Sullivan and Bristol.

    The Falcons will return to play on January 17th when they host Kingsborogh Community College. The game will take place after the Women's game that begins at 1pm at Falcon Hall on the DCC campus.
