Men's and Women's Basketball Finish First Half of Season With Wins

Box Score 1     Coming off of back to back losses, the DCC Men's Basketball team hosted Sullivan CC for a Region XV match up. The Falcons were able to take a 3 point half time lead all the way up to a 91-66 win. Sophomore Supreme Niles led the 5 different Falcons who scored over 10 points. Niles finished with 21 points while being  disruptive on defense, leading the team with 8 steals. Freshman Kameron Quinn filled the stat sheet off the bench, scoring the 2nd most points on the team with 14 and leading the team in rebounds with 7. Making his first start of the season, Freshman Jordin Walker scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists. Sophomores Josiah Salmon and Daniel Ogunleye both added 10 points of their own and were active on defense, Ogunleye had 5 steals and Salmon added 2 blocks. Adding to the defensive effort was Sophomores Nouhoun Diarra, Jadyn Wilson and Freshman Shawn Jones all blocked 3 shots.

    The Falcons faced off against Bristol CC in their final game before the Winter Break, DCC came away with a 85-70 win. For the second straight game, 5 different Falcons broke 10 points. Leading the way was Sophomore Supreme Niles with 20 points, Niles also grabbed 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Sophomore Josiah Salmon was the most efficient DCC player, shooting 64% from the floor and grabbing a team high 9 rebounds. Off the bench Sophomore Nouhoun Diarra and Freshman Kameron Quinn both added double digit scoring efforts. Diarra scored 11 points to go along with 3 assists and rebounds while Quinn scored 14 points and dished out 4 assists. Freshman Jordin Walker and Sophomore Daniel Ogunleye tied for the team lead with 5 assists, Walker also scored 12 points while Ogunleye picked up 3 steals. 

    The DCC Women's Basketbal team took on Laguardia CC in a Region XV matchup to finish the first half of their season. The Falcons entered the game without their leading scorer but were able to take down Laguardia with a 54-48 win. Sophomore Avion Pugh had the highest scoring performance of her career, Pugh finished with a game high 19 points and team high 3 steals. Freshman Kamira Sutton scored 12 points, Sophomore Melody Sanchez and Freshman Amelia Turner both scored 9 points. Freshman Angelina Nesheiwat lead the team with 8 rebounds.
