The Dutchess Women's Basketball team finished their first season of competition since 2019-20 with a record of 12-7.
The team of only 7 players dealt with injuries throughout the season but were able to battle and finish the season with a 61% win rate in conference games.Â
Freshman Alexis Ochoa-Pena led the team in both points and assists, she averaged 18.6 points and 3.1 assists while also putting up 25 points per game over the last 5 games of the season. Freshman Shalanda Lefevre finished her first season averaging a double double with 10.4 points and 10.5 rebounds. Maya-K Johnson who was putting up 12.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds also finished in the top 30 in the nation in blocks for the season. Franchelis Guzman rounds out the group of four falcons that averaged over 10 points on the year, Guzman finished at 10.4 points per game and led the team in steals per game grabbing almost 2 extra possessions for her team each game.Â
The first season back for Falcons Women Basketball was a success and the future looks bright. With returning players and newcomers next season the program should only grow further, the Athletic Department would like to thank all members of the team and the coaches for their commitment to DCC and look forward to the 2024-25 Women's Basketball season.Â
