Your Dutchess Community College Falcons have punched their ticket to the NJCAA D3 Men's Basketball National Tournament. The Falcons were Nationally Ranked for 13 straight weeks during the 24-25 season and earned the #1 ranking in the Country for the final 2 weeks of the 24-25 season. Coach Robert Piano was named Region 15 Coach of the Year in 24-25, his second award, having earned this distinction previously during the 23-24 season. The Falcons finished the 24-25 season with the following team statistics:
· 2nd in Country - Opponents FG Percentage 37.7
· 2nd in Country - Opponents PPG 62.3
· 2nd in Country - Steals per Game 15
· 3rd in Country - Blocks per Game 6.8
· 3rd in Country - Opponents Turnovers per Game 18.9
Sophomores Alijah England and Amadou Diallo led the team on the offensive end. England averaged 16.8 points per game with Diallo putting up 14.9 points per game while dishing out 4.7 assists per game. Sophomore Quincey Platt will finish his career as the best rebounder and blocker in recorded DCC Basketball history. Platt averaged 8.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game (3rd in the country). Amadou Diallo, Seiray Sinerna, and Alijah England stole the show on defense. The three have combined to grab 8.5 steals a game. Diallo finished the regular season averaging 3.8 steals, good for the 3rd best in the country. Sophomore Prince Kamate was a crucial part of the team before going down with an injury. Kamate averaged 14 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2 steals a game. Seiray Sinerna also missed some time this season but was able to come back and average 9 points and 4.5 rebounds to go along with his 2 steals. Sophomore Joseph Battle was the team's leading 3-point shooter with Freshman Darrel Taylor and Nouhoun Diarra following close behind. Diarra stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals a game. Additional Freshman standouts, Daniel Ogunleye and Josiah Salmon both played big roles in their first season at Dutchess. Ogunleye led the team in scoring during a big win over DII Westchester and Salmon grabbed the 3rd most rebounds and swatted the 2nd most shots for Dutchess during the 24-25 season.
The Falcons had 5 members win Region XV awards:
· 1st Team All-Region - Alijah England 16.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.2 apg, and 2.5 spg
· 2nd Team All Region- Amadou Diallo 11.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.7 apg and 3.8 spg
· All-Region Honorable Mention – Prince Kamate 14 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.1 apg and 2 spg
· Sportsmanship Team - Seiray Sinerna 9 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.5 apg and 2 spg
· Coach of The Year – Robert Piano
