Falcons Defeat Monroe-Bronx to Win Region XV Title

The Dutchess Falcons Men's Basketball Program Wins the 2024-2025 D3 Region 15 Championship

The #1 Nationally Ranked Dutchess Community College Men's Basketball team finished the regular season with a 23-1 record, undefeated in Region 15 D3 (18-0). The Falcons were ranked the #1 seed for the Region 15 Tournament. The team is led by Coach Robert Piano in his 4th season (78-32 overall record).

Dutchess began their postseason run with a 103-72 win over #8 seeded Suffolk CC. Seiray Sinerna led the way for the Falcons with a game high 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Alijah England put up 15 points with Daniel Ogunleye added 14 of his own. Amadou Diallo led the team in 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the win with Quincey Platt adding 8 points and 4 blocks.

Dutchess moved on to face #5 seeded Kingsborough in the Semi-Final Round. The Falcons played one of their best games of the season, winning decisively by a score of 89-58. Quincey Platt led Dutchess with 18 points and 8 rebounds while Alijah England put a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Amadou Diallo scored 11 points to go along with 5 assists and 5 steals. Off the bench the Falcons had big contributions from Remmiel Simon who scored 13 points, Daniel Ogunleye who added 6 assists, Josiah Salmon who scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, and Nouhoun Diarra who scored 9 points in the victory.

After defeating Kingsborough on Saturday, the Dutchess Falcons advanced to the Championship Game on Sunday 3/2/25 in a matchup against the #3 seeded Monroe-Bronx University Express. The Falcons had big showings from Amadou Diallo and Alijah England in the 89-81 victory. England led the way with a game-high 27 points, shooting 67% from the field. Diallo finished with 24 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Nouhoun Diarra scored 10 of his 13 points in the 2nd half and added 8 rebounds. Josiah Salmon also had a big 2nd half, scoring 8 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and adding 2 blocks. Seiray Sinerna, Daniel Ogunleye and Quincey Platt all added on the defensive end. Sinerna and Ogunleye each had 3 steals while Platt finished with 3 blocks.

Sophomore Amadou Diallo was named the Region 15 Tournament MVP, finishing the 3 games averaging 14.6 points 4.3 rebounds 6 assists and 4.3 steals. Sophomore Alijah England was named to the All-Tournament team; averaging 19 points 5 rebounds 2.67 assists and steals over the 3 games.

It has been an amazing season and the entire college community is so incredibly proud of this amazing achievement.

The NJCAA D3 Men's Basketball National Tournament Bracket will be revealed on Wednesday March 5th, 2025 at 3PM on the NCAAA TV Platform. Dutchess will get their final ranking for the National Tournament and find out who they face when they travel to Herkimer Community College from March 12-15, 2025 when they vie for a National Championship.
