Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dutchess Men's Basketball Continues to Move Up National Rankings

    The DCC Men's Basketball Team came into their second week of games this semester as the #7 team in the country. After going 3-0 over the week, taking down Hostos, Borough of Manhattan and Nassau, the Falcons moved up to #5 in the nation.

    The first game of the week was a rematch vs Hostos, in their first match up the Falcons fell by one point on a last second shot by Hostos. DCC did not let that happen again, they came away with a 78-69 win. Dutchess was led by Sophomore Darrel Taylor, he scored a team high 14 points and tied for the most rebounds coming down with 9 of them. Off the bench, Freshman Aston Lewis was the team's leader in assists with 6 and scored the second most points on the team with 12. Sophomore Daniel Ogunleye scored 11 points, dished out 5 assists and grabbed 4 rebounds in the win. Freshman Jordin Walker scored 10 points and led the team with 4 steals. Freshman Shawn Jones scored 9 points and came down with 9 rebounds.

    The Falcons next test was on the road at Borough of Manhattan, DCC took care of business and won by a score of 78-59. Sophomore Jadyn Wilson was a monster on the boards, he came down with a career high 16 rebounds. Wilson also scored a team high 14 points and blocked 4 shots. Freshman Jordin Walker was the teams leading assister, dishing out 5 of them while scoring 11 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Sophomore Darrel Taylor scored 11 points and made a team high 3 3s. Off the bench Freshman Shawn Jones and Aston Lewis had big performances, Jones scored 10 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 2 shots while Lewis scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for himself.

    DCC hosted Nassau on Saturday in another rematch of a game the Falcons lost in their first semester. For the second time this week they were able to avenge the prior defeat and took down Nassau by a score of 83-62. Sophomore Josiah Salmon made his return in a big way after missing the previous 3 games . Salmon scored a team high 15 points, blocked a team high 6 shots and grabbed a team high 3 steals. Sophomore Jadyn Wilson scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while blocking 3 shots of his own. For the 3rd time this week Freshman Shawn Jones and Aston Lewis both came off the bench and provided big performances. Jones finished with his first double-double of the season scoring 13 points and snagging a team high 14 rebounds. Lewis scored 14 points grabbed 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Sophomore Daniel Ogunleye led the team in assists finishing with 5 and also grabbed 2 steals.

    The Falcons will return to play on Thursday 2/5/26 when they host Laguardia CC at 6pm in Falcon Hall on the DCC Campus.
